In this lecture, I used my dissertation research to explore the evolving roles of art curators through the case of José Martín Bartolomé. By analyzing his work in the cultural sector of Spain and Latin America, I examined the multifaceted roles curators play — from exhibition direction and theoretical writing to promoting emerging artists. This lecture highlighted how Bartolomé's work fits into the broader genealogy of curatorship, offering insights into the responsibilities and impact of curators in shaping cultural narratives and legitimizing artistic movements.
