KULTUURIBINGO Ränni Galleria
Produced by Kurhaus Studio and Oulu Urban Culture
Curated by Manuela Barreiro

Boneless is the ongoing project of Madrid based artist Valeria Maculán (b. Argentina, 1968). It consists of soft hanging sculptures that inquire about the schemes and basic structures of human bodies, and their connection to the shapes of the urban immediate environment.

Superposition, layering and texture-combination are the main startpoint of Maculán’s works, even on previous series produced with different creative processes such as painted paper collages and installation. In Boneless, a variety of fabrics (some intervened with archetypal motives) are sewed together and hanged like curtains, but still manage to seem like anthropoid figures. This provokes a strange sensation of human presence.

This series of works were started in 2015 in Buenos Aires and continue to be developed at the Matadero art residency in Madrid.
